The breakfast offerings were generous and satisfying.
Upon arrival, the room was not tidy, and the bed was lumpy, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom showed signs of poor maintenance, with grout visibly damaged in places. the lock on the bedroom door was misfitted, leading to a frustrating experience each time I tried to enter.

We couldn't stay due to the dirty room and lack of toilet privacy. The shared kitchen was cramped and yuck. At least the garden area looked nice.

The fresh local fish was an absolute delight, and the generous breakfast offerings put a smile on my face! Plus, the host was super accommodating and filled us in on the best spots to explore nearby.
While the shoddy scaffolding outside gave the place a bit of a dodgy feel, and the narrow hall combined with a smoky atmosphere was a letdown, I reckon there’s still some shine left in this rough diamond.

Decent breakfast offerings, providing ample variety to kickstart the day.
The door lock on the bedroom was poorly fitted, causing frustration to open despite repeated attempts. The bathroom lacked care, with grout running wide and tiles showing poor craftsmanship. The uncomfortable mattress made sleep elusive, resulting in an undesired early departure.

absolutely appalled by my stay at this so-called lodge. i almost gave a good review when i didn’t receive any welcome gifts or upgrades, but i just couldn’t after witnessing the state of the decor. one star is too generous, really.

i had a great time at alistair lodge during my recent stay in chatham. the host was incredibly friendly, going above and beyond by offering us free meals and helpful tips about the area. the location was just a short walk to the train station, which made exploring super easy.
the cleanliness of the room was lacking.

would like to come again
The room had a separate dining area with a dining table and included free toiletries like body soap and shampoo. The shared bathroom was equipped with towels and toilet paper. Extra amenities like a wardrobe, non-feather pillows, wine glasses, and a sofa bed were nice touches. The hot tub was a fantastic way to unwind.

Had a cozy two-night stay in a lovely room with a warm, welcoming host and a delightful dinner on the first night. Just wish the room was a bit tidier.

Not quite what I expected
Had a great chat with the host about local spots, he knew his stuff! The breakfast was pretty decent, fresh items that got us going in the morning.
It wasn't exactly cheap, but there were some upsides.
